Happy Spring Solstice 🌞

There’s really nothing like a FRESH START!

even though we celebrate the “new year” on 1 January, according to Natural cycles, TODAY is the first day of the next 6 months, and the Fall Solstice is then the first day of that next set of 6 months. The 🌞 rises perfectly Due East today and sets perfectly Due West and today is the first day of SPRING.💐

Everything in nature moves in time through cycles of Light and Dark. On the Solstices, light and dark are perfectly balanced. From this point forward, we will be gaining in light until we hit the Summer Equinox - the Most Light filled day of the Year.

From that point the light will lessen til we reach the Fall Solstice, from which we will enter the Dark phase of the year, with the peak point of that being Winter Equinox. These 4 points are really the N,E,S,+W of our time measuring.

If we begin to align with these cycles of light, dark and time we bring our bodies back into resonance with their Natural states of Being. As our bodies are built of the Earth, these are the rhythms that nourish us to be our best selves.

Did you know that 80% of our cells are regulated by our receiving photonic (sun) light? and their genetic expression can be enhanced with more photonic light exposure.

Sunlight exposure increases the secretion of the 3 wonder drugs of our supernatural being :: Melatonin, Seratonin and Dopamine. All of LIFE in our bodies and all of Earth - is completley coded and instructed by these time rhythms of dark and light.

Some of the super simple ways I like to align to the rhythm of light and dark time cycles are about easy habits ::

  • getting up for the sun rise and getting that early am light in my eyes!

  • keeping my eating hours within daylight hours - our bodies move into rest and restore in darkness

  • sunset light in the eyes - also super powerful

  • and if you can’t see sunrise or sunset light, getting some mid-day light in your eyes with your eyes CLOSED is also great.

  • sleep with no electronic light

  • minimize bright light after dark - hello Lamp O’clock!

  • use incandescant lighting - NOT LED, fluorescent / CFL or halogen bulbs

  • turn off wifi while sleeping

Beyond these simple steps, we can align more with the Circadian and Circannual rhythms. The field of science studying the ways we respond to these cycles of light is called Chronobiology.

I did a fantastic workshop this solstice with Dr Azra Bertrand. if you are interested in learning more, I highly recommend.
